Changelog

Instant Real-Time Event Deletions

We've upgraded our live synchronization engine so deleted calendar events now disappear instantly across all your open tabs and embeds.

Improvements & Fixes

• Instant Live Deletions: Resolved an issue where deleted Google Calendar events lingered on open screens. Deleted events will now vanish from your Notion and Obsidian views in real time, matching the speed of newly added events.
• Automatic Sync Cleanups: Improved full calendar resyncs to proactively prune cancelled events, keeping your views clean and clutter-free without needing manual page reloads.

Calendar Accuracy & Timezone Alignment

We've rolled out reliability improvements to ensure your calendar dates, all-day events, and weekday headers stay perfectly aligned no matter where you're located.

Improvements & Fixes

• Universal Date Accuracy: Fixed a timezone display glitch where month headers and all-day events could shift by a day in certain Western timezones. Dates and weekdays now stay 100% accurate worldwide.
• Dedicated All-Day Section: Re-enabled the pinned "ALL DAY" row across Week and Day views so full-day events, birthdays, and reminders are always visible at the top of your schedule.
• Seamless Morning Briefings: Notion daily agenda summaries now consistently include all-day events on the exact scheduled date.

Vulnerability Threat Hardening & Checkout Fixes

We've rolled out a critical security and infrastructure update focused on platform hardening, securing user logins, and repairing lifetime deal provisioning.

Updates & Security Hardening

• Login & Dashboard Hardening: Secured the login page and dashboard routes to prevent unauthorized framing and embedding, protecting user credentials. Safe embedding inside Notion and Obsidian remains fully supported on all embed links.
• Lifetime Deal Resolution: Corrected a billing webhook classification bug where Lemon Squeezy lifetime deals (LTD) were not successfully provisioning the lifetime plan.
• Entitlements Scaling: Unified sync range logic to ensure lifetime users correctly access the full paid-tier 12-month past and 24-month future date range limits.

The Bidirectional Notion Operating System

Welcome to the next generation of Viewday. We have completely transformed the platform from a passive visual timeline into a fully bidirectional execution engine for your Notion workspace. You can now visualize, schedule, edit, and create Notion database pages directly from your unified calendar grid.

The Notion Engine

• Visualize & Merge: Map your Notion databases (like tasks, content calendars, or project deadlines) to instantly view them alongside your Google Calendar events and Obsidian notes.
• Drag & Drop Time Blocking: Stop manually typing dates into Notion properties. Slide open the Unscheduled Hopper, drag a task, and drop it on the calendar. Viewday instantly writes the exact date and time back to your Notion database.
• Instant Creation: Drag an empty time slot on your calendar grid to seamlessly create a new, pre-scheduled page inside your connected Notion database.
• Real-Time Webhooks: Change a date or delete a task inside the Notion app, and our new webhook infrastructure will automatically sync the update back to your Viewday grid.
• Manual Sync: In a rush? We added a dedicated refresh button directly on the grid to instantly pull your latest Notion changes without reloading the app.

Free vs. Pro Unlocks

• The 1-1-1 Free Plan: Free users can now map exactly 1 Notion Database alongside 1 Google Account and 1 Obsidian Vault to experience the ultimate unified timeline.
• Pro Scale: Viewday Pro users unlock unlimited Notion database connections to bring their entire life's operating system into a single view.

Native Wikilinks & Visual Clarity

Following the launch of the "Link Note" feature, we pushed a structural update to the Obsidian plugin to make your relational data feel perfectly native to your vault, while polishing the Dashboard UI to make managing your local files easier.

New in Obsidian Plugin 1.6.1

• Native Wikilink Support: When you link a note to a Local Event (like a project deadline or unscheduled task), Viewday now uses Obsidian's native [[Wikilink]] syntax inside your frontmatter. This means your linked events will now automatically populate your local Graph View, and if you ever rename a file, Obsidian will automatically update the calendar links so they never break.
• Unified Popover Actions: Clicking a local vault event on the grid now opens a unified details popover (just like Google events) where you can easily jump to the markdown file or link supplementary notes to the task.
• "Hollow Ring" Legend UI: Looking at the Interactive Legend on your Viewday calendar grid, you can now instantly differentiate between Cloud and Local sources. Google Calendars display as solid color dots, while Local Obsidian properties (like due_date) display as subtle, hollow color rings.

The Interactive Legend

Managing multiple Google Calendars and Local Sources just got drastically easier. We have introduced an Interactive Legend to the top of the Viewday dashboard to give you instant, one-click control over your data visualization.

New Features

• Always-On Visual Key: A beautiful, horizontal row of color-coded pills now sits right above your calendar grid, ensuring you never forget which color belongs to which project or account.
• One-Click Filtering: Click any source pill in the legend to instantly hide or show its events on the grid. No more digging through the settings dropdown just to mute your personal calendar during a deep-work session.
• Drag-and-Drop Ordering: You control the visual order. Click and drag the pills to reorder your legend exactly how you want it.

Relational Time: Linked Notes & Clickable Headers

We are transforming the Viewday grid from a simple visual timeline into a fully navigable operating system for your Obsidian vault. You can now treat your meetings as relational database nodes and navigate your days directly from the calendar headers.

New in Obsidian Plugin 1.6.0

• The "Link Note" Feature: You can now associate existing local Obsidian files directly to any Google event. Click the "Link note" button on an event popover to instantly fuzzy-search your entire vault.
• 1-to-Many Event Hubs: Link multiple notes (like a Meeting Agenda, Client CRM, and Project Spec) to a single event. They appear as a clean, clickable list inside the event details, turning your calendar block into a preparation command center.
• Visual Grid Indicators: At a glance, the calendar grid and the Unscheduled Hopper now display a subtle "link" icon on any event block that has prepped materials attached to it.
• Clickable Date Headers: The day headers on your grid (e.g., "23") are no longer dead text. Click any date to instantly open that day's Daily Note. If the note doesn't exist yet, Viewday will automatically generate it in the background using your core Daily Notes settings.

Advanced Source Targeting & UI Polish

Following the launch of the Unscheduled Backlog, we pushed a rapid update to give power users granular control over how they organize and color-code their local data on the calendar grid.

New in Obsidian Plugin 1.5.0

• Folder-Path Filtering: You can now limit a Local Obsidian Source to a specific folder path (e.g., /Video Scripts or /Newsletters) directly from the Viewday dashboard. This allows you to automatically color-code your local events strictly by the folder they reside in, completely removing the need to use custom tags or emojis to differentiate your content.
• Flex-Wrap Source Pills: We redesigned the top of the Unscheduled Backlog sidebar. Your color-coded source filter "pills" now wrap cleanly, giving you an instant, tactile dashboard of all your unscheduled task categories without hiding them behind a horizontal scroll.
• Ghost Event Durations: When dragging an unscheduled task from the hopper onto the calendar, the "ghost" preview event now natively respects the duration property in your frontmatter, showing you the exact size of the time block before you even drop it.

The "Planner" Update: Unscheduled Backlog

Viewday is no longer just a window into your schedule. It is now a command center for your time. By bridging the gap between your ideas and your execution, you can now visually manage your unscheduled tasks, project deadlines, and content ideas, and drag them directly onto your calendar to lock them in.

New in Obsidian Plugin 1.4.0

• The Unscheduled Sidebar ("The Hopper"): Click the new Inbox icon to slide out the Unscheduled Backlog. Viewday automatically scans your configured Local Sources for notes that have your target property (e.g., do_date: ) but no assigned value.
• Drag & Drop Time Blocking: Stop manually typing dates into YAML. Simply drag an unscheduled note from the sidebar and drop it onto an empty slot on your calendar grid. Viewday instantly writes the date and time directly back to your local Markdown file's frontmatter.
• Smart "Duration" Support: If your unscheduled note contains a duration_minutes or duration property (e.g., duration_minutes: 120), the calendar natively respects it. When dragging, the "ghost" preview event will accurately reflect the exact block of time on your grid before you even drop it.
• Pill-Tab Source Filtering: Managing multiple sources? The top of the sidebar features horizontal, color-coded "Pill Tabs" allowing you to instantly filter your backlog to focus strictly on specific task types without context-switching.
• Responsive "Squeeze" Layout: Opening the sidebar dynamically resizes the calendar grid rather than overlaying it. This ensures that your Friday, Saturday, and Sunday columns remain perfectly accessible for drag-and-drop scheduling.

Mobile Stability Update

Following the major release of the Creation Engine, we pushed a rapid update to ensure the mobile experience is just as smooth as desktop.

Fixes

• Android/iOS Actions: Fixed an issue where "Create Event" and "Edit in Google" deep links were unresponsive on the Obsidian Android & iOS app due to WebView sandbox restrictions.
• Mobile Dashboard: Resolved a layout bug that prevented the "Founder's Lifetime Deal" card from appearing on some mobile screen sizes.

The Creation Engine: Instant scheduled notes from your calendar

For our Obsidian users, Viewday is no longer just for viewing your schedule, it’s now for building it. We’ve introduced Proactive Time Blocking, allowing you to create actual Markdown files directly from the calendar grid.

New in Obsidian Plugin 1.3.0

• Instant Scheduled Notes: Drag an empty time slot on the grid and select a specific Local Source (e.g., "Tasks" or "Deadlines") from the dropdown. Viewday instantly creates a new Markdown file, opens it in a new pane, and injects the selected date/time into the exact frontmatter property (like do_date) needed to make the note appear on your grid immediately.
• Context-Aware Creation: The creation modal is now smart enough to switch between "Google Event" mode and "Local Note" mode based on your selection.
• Smart Routing & Persistent Links: New notes land in your Vault's root (acting as an Inbox) or your configured default folder. Once created, move them anywhere - Viewday tracks the file metadata, not the folder path, so reorganizing your vault never breaks the calendar link.

The secure "Write-Back" layer for Google Calendar events

The most requested feature from our Notion, Web, and Obsidian users has been "Write Access" to Google Calendar. However, asking for full "Read/Write" permissions creates massive security risks for you. We solved this with our new Secure Deep Link architecture. You can now schedule events without granting Viewday permission to delete or modify your calendar.

New Features

• Quick-Create Deep Links: Click any empty slot on the grid to launch a pre-filled Google Calendar event form in a new tab. It captures your title, start time, and end time automatically.
• Smart Account Routing: Have multiple Google accounts? Viewday's account selector ensures the event opens in the correct Google identity (e.g., Work vs. Personal), keeping your data siloed correctly.
• "Edit in Google" Button: Need to reschedule? We’ve added a direct edit link to the Event Details popup. One click takes you straight to the specific event inside Google Calendar to make changes.
• Universal Availability: These actionable features are available immediately for Notion Embeds, the Web Dashboard, and the Obsidian Plugin.

Housekeeping & Free Tier Updates

We pushed a quick patch to squash a few bugs that slipped into the 2.0 release. While we were at it, we decided to unlock more power for our free users.

New in Free Plan

We updated the Free Plan to include 1 Local Obsidian Source and Drag-and-Drop Time Blocking. You can now start visualizing your local Obsidian notes immediately alongside your Google Calendar without upgrading.

Bug Fixes

• Agenda View: Fixed a rendering issue where multi-day events were not displaying correctly in the agenda view.
• Edit Calendar View: Resolved an issue that prevented the Edit Calendar View from working correctly.

The Universal Layer: Time blocking for your local Obsidian vault

Today we are launching the Universal Layer. Viewday is no longer just a window into your Google Calendar; it is now a bridge to your local data. By connecting directly to your Obsidian Vault, Viewday can now visualize your markdown notes, tasks, and deadlines alongside your meetings - turning your calendar into a unified timeline of your entire life.

The "Kill Shot": Drag-and-Drop Time Blocking

Managing a vault shouldn't feel like managing a database. We've introduced Drag-and-Drop Time Assignment to bring tactile control to your schedule.

• Drag to Schedule: See your "Date Only" notes (like tasks with a do_date) sitting in the All-Day header. Simply drag them down into an empty time slot on your grid to block out time.
• Direct File Write-back: When you drop a note onto the calendar, Viewday automatically updates the YAML frontmatter in your local markdown file with the new time. No plugins or manual edits required.
• Visual Gap Detection: Instantly spot the empty spaces between your Google meetings and fill them with your meaningful work.

Universal Sources

• Total Workflow Freedom: De-Googling? You can now use Viewday with zero Google accounts connected, relying 100% on your local vault. Hybrid user? Mix and match local project deadlines with shared Google Calendar team events in a single view. Your stack, your rules.
• Local Rules Engine: Define rules in your Dashboard to scan specific frontmatter properties (e.g., deadline, scheduled, do_date). These appear in your calendar legend just like a Google account.
• Hybrid Legend: Toggle visibility for your "Cloud" sources and "Local" sources independently within the same view.
• Zero-Latency Sync: Local events are parsed directly on your machine. As soon as you save a note in Obsidian, it appears on your Viewday grid instantly.

Making your Google Calendar actionable in Obsidian

We are taking the first major step into the Obsidian ecosystem. This update introduces our official plugin (currently in beta) designed to bridge the gap between your schedule and your knowledge base. You can now jump from viewing a Google Calendar event to taking notes on it in a single click without ever leaving your vault.

Obsidian Features

• Smart Meeting Notes: Click the "Create note" button on any event to instantly generate a markdown file populated with attendees, location, and agenda formatted with YAML frontmatter for Dataview compatibility.
• The Viewday Plugin: Our official plugin is currently under review for the Community Store. Impatient? You can install it today via BRAT or manually from our GitHub repository.

A new home for your calendar layer

We have rebuilt the Viewday dashboard from the ground up. As Viewday evolves from a simple widget generator into a universal calendar layer, we needed a home that felt just as powerful as the tools you integrate with. Today, we are rolling out Dashboard 2.0 - a cleaner, faster, and smarter way to manage your digital time.

What's New

• Architecture Overhaul: We have decoupled Sources (your Google accounts) from Views (your widgets). You can now connect an account once and reuse it across unlimited distinct views without reconnecting.
• The Overview Hub: A new "Mission Control" for your workspace. Monitor the real-time sync health of your accounts, track your usage, and fix connection issues in one click.
• Unified Merged Views: It is now effortless to combine multiple calendars from different Google accounts into a single, unified view. Perfect for seamlessly blending your "Work" and "Personal" lives.
• Visual Refinement: A polished aesthetic with improved dark mode support and smoother interactions throughout the app.
• A hint of what's next... You might notice a new Automations tab appearing in your navigation. It is currently locked behind the scenes, but we are building engines that don't just show your calendar, but actively work with it. Stay tuned. 👀

Trust & Compliance Updates

We have updated our Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, and Trust Center to provide greater transparency regarding our security infrastructure, data isolation practices, and compliance commitments.

Fair pricing for your universal calendar layer

After talking with our early users, we realized our pricing was a bit "heavy" for a utility tool. We want Viewday to be an easy addition to your workflow, not a major budget decision. Today, we’re pivoting to a micro-utility model that puts our earliest supporters first.

Pricing Updates

• The $3.50 Pro Tier: We’ve lowered the cost of Pro to about the price of a coffee. Get unlimited accounts, Agenda views, and zero branding for a fraction of the original cost.
• Founder’s Deal (Lifetime): To thank our earliest supporters, we are releasing 50 Lifetime seats. Pay once ($39), own the Viewday calendar layer forever. No subscriptions, ever.
• 14-Day Automatic Pro Trial: Every new user now gets 14 days of Pro features (including Agenda view and no branding) automatically - no credit card required. Experience the full power of Viewday before you decide to upgrade.

Refinements

• Streamlined Pro Features: We’ve simplified the Pro plan to focus on what matters most: unlimited multi-account merging and white-label aesthetics.

A new year, a new vision

We are starting 2026 by evolving Viewday from a "Notion widget" into the universal calendar layer for your entire productivity stack. Our vision is simple: your unified schedule should live exactly where you work - whether that’s in your favorite productivity tools, your daily notes, or a dedicated browser tab.

Features

• Official Obsidian Plugin (Coming Soon): We have submitted our official plugin for review. Soon, you will be able to use Viewday natively inside your vault - supporting dark mode, sidebar layouts, and instant syncing without ever leaving your daily notes.
• Redesigned Website: We’ve refreshed our home page to reflect our new multi-platform mission, with dedicated hubs to help you get started on Notion, Obsidian, or the Web.
• Enhanced Widget Security: We have upgraded all Widget IDs from 8 to 12 characters. This increase in entropy ensures even tighter security for your private calendar embeds.
• Standalone Web Mode: You can now launch your calendar directly in the browser as a distraction-free "second screen" dashboard.
• Updated Privacy & Terms: We’ve updated our legal documents to reflect our tool-agnostic approach, ensuring your data remains private and protected regardless of which platform you use.
• One more thing...: Keep an eye on your inbox. We are cooking up a special update for our Pro and Team plans that we think you’re going to love (and your wallet will too).

Faster loads, lighter background activity

We tuned how Viewday keeps your embeds up to date so they feel just as instant, while being lighter and smoother behind the scenes.

Optimizations

• Snappier calendar loading: Events appear faster when opening or switching views.
• Real‑time stays real‑time: Changes from Google Calendar still land in Notion instantly.
• Smoother browsing: Less background chatter means fewer spikes and a more stable experience.
• Battery/data friendly: Reduced background work helps keep things efficient.
• Better on mobile: The calendar widget adapts more cleanly to small screens - tighter spacing, clearer titles, and streamlined controls for easier tapping.

Agenda layout + Team plan waitlist

This update introduces the Agenda layout and opens the waitlist for the upcoming Team plan.

Features

• Agenda layout: A compact, readable list view of upcoming events, ideal for daily planning.
• Team plan waitlist: Teams can now request early access. Join the waitlist.
